BOOKKEEPING RESOURCES

So You Wanna Learn Bookkeeping by Bean Counter’s Dave Marshall. This is the website that first helped me learn about bookkeeping. It’s an excellent resource for new business owners who are 100% clueless about accounting. Your learning journey should start with this free tutorial to learn the absolute basics about bookkeeping.

ORGANIZING RESOURCES

Shoeboxed is a simple, inexpensive service that organizes your receipts, business cards and important paper documents with no effort on your part – no scanning, no organizing, no data entry – all you have to do is stuff everything into an envelope and mail it off. I’ve been using Shoeboxed in my business for more than a year and love it so much that I recommend it to every new client I meet, especially anyone who’s considering purchasing NeatReceipts. Shoeboxed does all the work (scanning, data entry and secure online storage) and I get all the benefits: zero paper clutter, the option to create and print expense reports, even the ability to export my expenses into QuickBooks. I will never have to file or scan a paper document ever again. And that’s a good thing.

* Important Note: Some of the links to outside sources are affiliate links. When you use an “affiliate link” through this website rather than, say, going to the site by typing the URL in your browser, that site sends me some kind of compensation for sending them the referral if you end up using their service. The compensation is usually not enough to buy a cup of coffee, but if it makes you uncomfortable, you always have the choice of going and typing a site URL into your browser instead of using the link on my site. I hope you’ll use my affiliate link, but the choice is yours.
